Qualifications

• Upload Medical Assistant Diploma, Medical Assistant Certificate, and BLS certification with application.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (or higher-level equivalent) Required.
• H.S. Diploma/GED Required.
• MA Certification (Required within 90 days of hire ONLY if position is in PA. Must have at time of offer in NJ.)
• Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promptly rooms patients, using EMR to alert provider that patient is ready; reviews past medical history and notes corrections in EMR.
• Observes patient condition and communicates any abnormal data or changes to provider.
• Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, exam prep, and staying in the exam room as needed.
• Specimen management: obtain specimens for testing, perform phlebotomy, tests, and document results in EMR.
• Performs EKGs and other outpatient screening tests as ordered and documents results in EMR.
• Assists with minor surgical procedures; hands instruments and maintains sterile field.
• Handles emergency/code situations as required.
• Administers prescribed medications and vaccines when applicable under provider orders; reads PPD results.
• Demonstrates competence in care of diverse patient ages from neonate to geriatric.

Education

H.S. Diploma/GED Required

Medical Assistant program completion

Associate’s degree preferred

MA Certification within PA timeframe
