Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to work alongside physicians, dictating into the chart and assisting with minor in-office procedures. This role requires coordinating patient flow and ensuring accurate documentation during exams and treatments.

Travel is required: weekly rotations among Avon Pointe, Cleveland, Beachwood, with occasional trips to Amherst and Streetsboro. Hours are typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM on clinic days and extended surgery days; a dynamic,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; valid driver's license; able to type 40+ wpm.
• Preferred: experience as Medical Scribe, EMR knowledge, 1–3 years in the field.

Responsibilities

• Bring patients to and from exam rooms.
• Document patient work ups and OD/MD comments in EMR.
• Complete encounter forms based on diagnosis.
• Apply eye drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Provide chair-side physician assistance and perform ordered treatments.
• Explain care instructions to patients.
• Collect detailed patient history including medical and chief complaint.
• Check visual acuity and perform standard eye tests.
• Assist with tests like A-scans, B-scans, fundus imaging, topography.
• Measure intraocular pressure and read eyeglass prescriptions.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Demonstrate eye anatomy knowledge and stay current with treatments.

Job description

As an Ophthalmic Scribe you will work alongside physician dictating into the patient's chart and assist physician with minor in-office procedures.

Schedule & Travel Requirements

• Hours: Monday–Friday (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on clinic days; 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM on surgery days)
• Weekly Travel: Regular rotation between Avon Pointe, Cleveland, and Beachwood clinics
• Monthly Travel: Occasional rotation to Amherst and Streetsboro locations

What you will be working on

• Bring patients to and from exam rooms
• Perform detailed documentation of patient work ups and OD/MD comments in patient's electronic medical record
• Complete patient encounter form based on determined diagnosis
• Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
• Provide chair-side physician assistance and administer treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician
• Review care instructions with patients
• Complete a detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint
• Check patient's visual acuity which includes far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
• Examine eyes for abnormalities
• Perform other tests and measurements including A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII and pachymetry
• Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test)
• Read patient's eyeglass prescription with automated lensometry
• Prep exam rooms for treatment
• Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medications
• Stay current with the latest technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questions

What you know

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a motor vehicle
• Efficient computer skills and ability to type 40+ words per minute

Desired

• Experience working as a Medical Scribe
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Proficient in all Scribe I duties; as well as OT-1 duties; has more than 1 year of experience. Typical has 1-3 years of experience
