Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to work alongside physicians, documenting in the patient chart and assisting with minor in-office procedures. The role includes travel among Avon Pointe, Cleveland, Beachwood, Amherst, and Streetsboro clinics to support multiple locations.

You will bring patients to exam rooms, document thoroughly in EMR, perform eye measurements and assist the physician with treatments as ordered, while maintaining strict HIPAA confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver''s license and ability to drive a motor vehicle.
• Efficient computer skills and ability to type 40+ words per minute.
• Experience as a Medical Scribe preferred.
• EMR experience preferred and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proven experience in Scribe I duties; OT-1 duties; 1–3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bring patients to and from exam rooms.
• Document patient workups and OD/MD notes in EMR.
• Complete patient encounter forms based on diagnosis.
• Apply eye drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
• Provide chair-side physician assistance and follow orders.
• Review care instructions with patients.
• Take a detailed patient history including past family medical history.
• Check visual acuity and basic eye measurements.
• Examine eyes for abnormalities and perform tests (A-scans, B-scans, fundus photos).
• Measure intraocular pressure and read eyeglass prescriptions.
• Prepare exam rooms and maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA.

Job description

As an Ophthalmic Scribe you will work alongside physician dictating into the patient's chart and assist physician with minor in-office procedures.

Schedule & Travel Requirements:

• Hours: Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on clinic days; 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM on surgery days)
• Weekly Travel: Regular rotation between Avon Pointe, Cleveland, and Beachwood clinics
• Monthly Travel: Occasional rotation to Amherst and Streetsboro locations

What you will be working on

• Bring patients to and from exam rooms
• Perform detailed documentation of patient work ups and OD/MD comments in patient's electronic medical record
• Complete patient encounter form based on determined diagnosis
• Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes
• Provide chair-side physician assistance and administer treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician
• Review care instructions with patients
• Complete a detailed patient history including past medical history, family medical history and chief complaint
• Check patient's visual acuity which includes far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception
• Examine eyes for abnormalities
• Perform other tests and measurements including A-scans, B-scans, fundus photography, corneal topography, HRTII and pachymetry
• Measures intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test)
• Read patient's eyeglass prescription with automated lensometry
• Prep exam rooms for treatment
• Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms & ocular medications
• Stay current with the latest technologies and medications and be able to answer general patient questions
