Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking a Research Manager to lead the Department of Surgery's research portfolio, overseeing administration, regulatory compliance, financial management, and trial operations.

The role partners with Principal Investigators, staff, institutional offices, and sponsors to ensure compliant, efficient, and financially sustainable management of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored research throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in sciences or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years in hospital/medical environment with 1 year supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day research operations across clinical and translational studies.
• Manages research finance including budgeting, invoicing, and sponsor payments.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and manages IRB submissions and amendments.
• Acts as Clinical Trial Manager for start-up, activation, enrollment, and closeout.
• Collaborates with investigators, staff, sponsors, CROs, and external partners.
• Develops and improves SOPs, workflows, and QA processes.
• Monitors timelines, milestones, enrollment, regulatory deadlines, and finances.
• Coordinates staffing, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Provides guidance on policies, grant administration, and best practices.
• Generates reports to support leadership decisions.
