Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Research Manager to provide operational leadership for the Department of Surgery's research portfolio.

You will oversee research administration, regulatory compliance, financial management, and clinical trial operations, partnering with investigators, staff, and sponsors to ensure compliant, efficient management of both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in sciences or related degree.
  • 5 years experience in a hospital/medical environment and 1 year supervisory

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day research operations across a portfolio of clinical and translational studies, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Manages research finance, budgeting, invoicing, and sponsor payments, with emphasis on accurate accounting and forecasting.
  • Oversees regulatory compliance for clinical research, including IRB submissions, continuing reviews, and file maintenance.
  • Acts as experienced Clinical Trial Manager, supervising study start-up, activation, enrollment, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Collaborates with investigators, staff, sponsors, CROs, and partners to identify challenges and implement solutions.
  • Develops and improves SOPs, workflows, and quality assurance in research management.
  • Monitors timelines, enrollment targets, regulatory deadlines, and financial performance; mitigates risks.
  • Coordinates staffing, onboarding, training, and workload for research personnel.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance, fiscal stewardship, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Guides investigators on policies, sponsor requirements, and best practices in clinical research.
  • Generates reports for leadership to support strategic decisions.
