The research coordinator is crucial to support primary researchers in the efficient conduct of investigator initiated research through assistance with protocol design, regulatory review, maintenance and adherence to IRB approved study protocols, patient recruitment, and timely collection of pertinent data to support departmental research protocols. The coordinator will work in clinical and academic settings, provide support navigating research patients through study specific questionnaires and procedures, as well as through clinical tasks with the ultimate goal of improving health outcomes. The coordinator will be perform and document assessments and present findings, preparing presentations, and proofreading manuscripts.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical

  • Coordinate and conduct multiple research experiments simultaneously. Conduct study eligibility screening, recruitment, interviews and evaluation of potential study participants, obtain consent, and collect and maintains subject data.
  • Create educational materials and conduct training sessions for participants, their families, and healthcare staff to promote understanding of research protocols and ensure safe, compliant study involvement.
  • Ensure participant and study compliance, i.e. collection of study data and study visits.
  • Perform health assessments and protocol-specific monitoring to track participant well-being and ensure accurate study data collection.

Data Development And Management

  • Develops and maintains protocol information and data/collection tools, complete case report forms (CRFs) and source documentation in compliance with all applicable guidelines for human research.
  • Prepares and manages study protocols, amendments, consent documents, and recruitment materials for submission to the IRB and department, ensuring PI review and approval.
  • Prepares psychiatric interview questions and collects relevant data for analysis.
  • Data entry and validation to ensure accuracy, completeness of data collection process.
  • Maintain record keeping and data storage for clinical research studies and maintain master database files for clinical research protocols.
  • Perform data cleaning procedures and quality checks to ensure accuracy of data.
  • Support the data-management process including addressing data queries, review reports, tables, and listings.
  • Prepare, plan, & participate in all audits, & quality reviews (internal & external) in a professional manner.

Manuscript Preparation

  • Analyzes data and summarizes results.
  • Generates graphs and spreadsheets to portray results.
  • Verifies accuracy of manuscripts by fact-checking and proofreading content.
  • Assists in creating and preparing presentations for primary researchers.

Education And Awareness

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure proper progress and completion of study procedures.
  • Develop strategies to ensure increased study awareness and subject enrollment.
  • Supports the orientation and training of new research team members, including faculty, residents/fellows, and other staff.
  • Provides education to interdisciplinary team regarding general research procedures and specific elements of a protocol.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

  • Previous experience in academic medicine setting.
  • Previous experience in psychiatric assessment.
