Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Family & Community Medicine Chair Office is seeking a Manager-Clinical Research Administration to oversee all aspects of clinical trial operations. You will lead a team of coordinators, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with internal and external sites to support successful trial execution.

The role emphasizes leadership, organizational and communication skills with a strong track record in clinical research management, including budget

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight years of related experience required.
• CCRC or CCRP certification strongly preferred.
• Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.

Responsibilities

• Acts as SME for faculty and staff regarding administrative duties for industry and sponsored clinical research.
• Manages and supervises clinical research coordinators and research staff across multiple trials.
• Prepares, submits, and maintains regulatory documentation including IRB submissions and continuing reviews.
• Leads study activation, site initiation, ongoing management, and closeout across protocols.
• Monitors progress to ensure adherence to protocols, timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
• Develops protocol-specific systems and study documentation, training materials, CRFs, and operational tools.
• Prepares and manages study budgets and collaborates with investigators and sponsors on financial planning.
• Provides training, mentorship, and professional development for research staff.
• Coordinates communication with internal teams, investigators, sponsors, and external sites to ensure efficient trial operations and data integrity.
• Develops recruitment and retention strategies to support study enrollment and completion.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations (FDA, IRB, GCP).
• Collaborates with investigators, sponsors and stakeholders to support successful trial execution.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field
