Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a Clinical Research Administrator I.

The O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 51 NCI-designated “comprehensive” cancer centers in the United States and is the only one in Alabama and in the Deep South region. A “comprehensive” designation also means UAB Medicine patients have access to leading-edge treatments or clinical trials that they may not otherwise have at local community hospitals or smaller cancer centers. For many, an NCI designation can hold the key to survival.

On campus and around Birmingham, the O’Neal Cancer Center is a significant part of our economic powerhouse. The O’Neal Cancer Center powers more than 400 scientists and physician-scientists, cares for 20,000 patients annually, and is home to more than 160 employees, plus all the physicians and clinical staff engaged in cancer patient care.

This position will be responsible for performing pre-award activities for industry and investigator-initiated studies. Manages fiscal aspects of contract negotiations, identifying all of the expenses associated with participating in a clinical trial, and budget negotiation and budget development. Will collaborate to develop clinical trial processes for consistency and compliance with UAB, Federal, State, and applicable regulatory authorities.

Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison to the UAB Office of Sponsored Programs in negotiating contracts and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities. Will assist in preparing, developing, reviewing, and negotiating industry and sponsored research clinical trial budgets for consistency with UAB policies and operating procedures. Will identify and obtain sufficient funding to successfully execute clinical research, as applicable.

Hourly Range

$18.85 - $30.65

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Preferences
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Experience working in a medical environment preferred.
  • Clinical trial, clinical trial billing, and invoicing preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Relevant work experience with developing and negotiating budgets for proposals/projects in a clinical research environment.
  • OnCore experience preferred.
