Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking a Project Manager to join Health System Information Services (HSIS). You will assist with requirements gathering, define scope, and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver IT projects that support quality patient care.

The role emphasizes strong communication with stakeholders, contract analysis, and the creation of project plans, dashboards, and governance processes to track health, resources, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field and 3 years' experience; work experience may substitute for education.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to coordinate with customers and stakeholders.
• Experience with gathering requirements, scope definition and documentation for IT projects.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate smaller projects and meetings with documented participants, next steps, and decisions.
• Perform contract analysis and submit findings for review and approval.
• Aid in creating long- and short-term project plans with milestones and deadlines.
• Support evaluation of project schedule and adjust dates as needed.
• Coordinate with executives/HSIS leadership to ensure alignment with department goals.
• Document and monitor risks associated with the project.
• Update project sponsor and team on status and progress.
• Identify measurable benefits of proposed projects with sponsors.
• Convene standing or ad hoc committees as directed.
• Author or assist with project communications.
• Administer and configure ServiceNow SPM/ITBM applications.
• Support Demand Management, Project Management, Portfolio Management, and Resource Management modules.
• Lead data models and relationships between demands, projects, portfolios, and resources.
• Support portfolio governance processes (intake, prioritization, stage-gate reviews).
• Create portfolio dashboards showing health, resource utilization, and financial performance.
• Support project financial management including cost plans, budgets, and actuals.

Job Description

Pre-Project / Contract Review:Assist with gathering and reviewing business requirements, technical specifications, andbusinessprocessredesignandinformationflow.Identifyappropriateresourcestomap,createanddocumentproject specifications if current state documentation does not exist. Document project scope and objectives. Work with appropriate HSIS leaders to define project team member roles to effectively coordinate team activities.

CustomerRelationshipManagement/Communication:Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskillsrequired. Effectively communicate with customers regularly for the duration of the project to, include informing them of project delays and issues. Creates and maintains a trust relationship with stakeholders within and beyond HSIS.

ProfessionalPresence/PresentationSkills:RoutinelypresentsatProjectandPlanningServicesstaffmeetingsand attends all relevant huddle meetings. Maintains a high level of professionalism in appearance, communication and demeanor at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitatesmallerprojectsandothermeetingsincludingdocumentationofparticipants,nextsteps,anddecisions made at the meeting.
• Performscontractanalysisandsubmitfindingsforreviewandapproval.
