Job summary

Advocate Health in Macon, GA is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our patient-care team. You will collect blood specimens, verify patient identity, and ensure accurate labeling and timely delivery to the laboratory.

This role requires phlebotomy experience or approved training, strong communication skills, and attention to detail. Day shifts and weekend rotations are included, with PRN night options available.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy/venipuncture experience or recent phlebotomy training in a clinical setting.
• Excellent patient-care and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and dependability.
• Teamwork oriented with ability to collaborate in a hospital environment.
• Comfort working with adult and geriatric patients; pediatric/newborn experience is a plus.
• Relevant phlebotomy certification when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Collect and process patient blood via venipuncture and capillary puncture accurately.
• Use vacutainer tubes, butterflies, syringes, and needles; perform heel sticks when needed.
• Identify patient correctly by name and DOB and record it on the specimen.
• Determine proper container type and promptly deliver specimens to the lab.
• Provide phone support and maintain competency with hospital/LabIS systems.
• Train new teammates and students; follow PPE requirements and SOPs.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in quality improvement activities.
