Job summary

Capital Health in Hopewell, NJ seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support sterile IV preparation, medication distribution, and pharmacy operations within a hospital setting.

The role includes aseptic technique, Pyxis/ParX workflow, labeling, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with USP 797 and state regulations. Eligible candidates must have NJ registration or be eligible within 6 months, with CPhT preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; certification preferred.
• CPhT certification or plan to acquire within 12 months.
• NJ Board of Pharmacy registration or eligibility within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of basic IV technique and USP 797 requirements; aseptically prepares IVPBs, syringes, large volume IV, ADD-Vantage and Add-A-Vial preparations.
• Ensures proper labeling of IV vials/syringes and compliance with storage, expiration dating and documentation.
• Uses PARx to fill Pyxis stations, accurately selects medications, and updates expiration dates during refills.
• Performs monthly nursing station inspections, removes outdated medications, and responds to stock outages promptly.
• Loads new medications into Pyxis, corrects drawer jams, and retrieves necessary reports.
• Accepts employee prescriptions, enters into computer systems, fills prescriptions, and transports paperwork securely.
• Distributes medications to correct patient bins with timely delivery and accurate patient identifiers.
• Accesses patient profiles and ADT information as part of medication reconciliation.
• Prepares WORX jobs (fills, labels, production lists, profiles) as needed.
• Follows GMP practices for unit dosing and maintains expiration controls.
