Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to prepare IV admixtures, operate Pyxis stations, and support medication distribution across hospital locations. The role emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of medications to patient care areas.

Required CPhT certification or plan to obtain within 12 months, NJ registration within 6 months, and a valid driver's license if delivering medications.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience: Current pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) or acquire within 12 months of employment.
• Current NJ Board of Pharmacy Registration or acquire within 6 months of employment.
• A valid driver’s license is required for Pharmacy Technicians whose duties include driving and delivering medications and prescriptions to designated Capital Health locations.
• Knowledge and Skills: Basic computer and mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

• Completes IV sterile technique module including workbook, media fill challenge, and calculations test and maintains competency.
• Demonstrates knowledge of labeling IV vials, syringes, and compounded IV products per regulations.
• Uses PARx to fill Pyxis stations; refills medications into Pyxis; loads new medications; tracks expiration dates when refilling.
• Performs monthly nursing station inspections and addresses stock outages.
• Accepts employee prescriptions and enters them into the computer system; fills prescriptions and delivers to designated locations.
• Maintains transport logs and ensures correct delivery to patient bins, refrigerators, or narcotic bins.
