Job summary

MedStar Health in Washington, DC seeks a pharmacist with advanced inpatient care responsibilities to support a specialized patient population. You will provide direct patient care, counsel patients and families, and advise physicians and nursing staff while mentoring residents.

You will evaluate therapies, ensure accurate medication orders, supervise support staff, and participate in rounds and quality initiatives within the department.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Pharmacy (PharmD) required or equivalent
• Licensed Pharmacist in DC and board certification within 1 year
• 5–7 years hospital experience (≥4 in a specialized area) or PGY-1 + PGY-2 residency or equivalent direct patient care experience

Responsibilities

• Evaluates therapeutic options and provides clinical guidance to staff pharmacists and residents.
• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and resolves discrepancies with prescribers/nursing staff.
• Monitors drug therapy and develops patient care plans for assigned patients.
• Participates autonomously in inpatient rounds and counsels patients on medications.
