Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks an experienced pharmacist leader to manage clinical pharmacy services and ensure pharmaceutical care across prescribing, dispensing, administration, and monitoring.

The role oversees pharmacists, participates in budgets, quality initiatives, and department committees, and requires DC licensure with 3–4 years of clinical leadership experience; BCPS preferred.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. (2 years post-graduate Pharm.D. or equivalent) preferred.
• 3-4 years related experience as a clinical pharmacist in a similar environment.
• 3-4 years BCPS residency; 3 years management experience preferred.
• Licensure in the District of Columbia.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages the clinical pharmacy services and ensures pharmaceutical care across prescribing, dispensing, administration, and monitoring of medications.
• Oversees education programs and guidance for healthcare professionals and patients.
• Interviews and assists in selection of candidates for staff and clinical positions.
• Leads quality and service improvement teams and participates in committees and community outreach as required.
• Develops policies to ensure compliance with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Oversight of pharmacists reviewing and assessing medication regimens and drug information resources.
