Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care to assigned patients under supervision. You will evaluate physician orders, dispense medications, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws while maintaining high safety standards.

The role requires 1–2 years of hospital experience and a PharmD or equivalent degree. Licensure as a pharmacist in the practice state is required, with board certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in hospital setting required.
• PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist in the state of practice required; board certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and dispenses medication.
• Assesses feasibility and compounding of extemporaneous products and recommends alternatives.
• Prepares IV admixtures and sterile products including hazardous agents.
• Responds to drug information requests and counsels patients/families as needed.
• Monitors drug therapy and ensures minimum adverse effects under supervision.
• Verifies accuracy of medications and maintains controlled substance inventory.
