Job summary

Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to provide expert pharmacotherapy, lead clinical initiatives, and serve as a primary preceptor for students and residents. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

The role requires hospital pharmacy experience, Virginia licensure, and ACPE-accredited degree completion; BCPS or related residency is preferred. Strong communication and teaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires effective communication skills and written/verbal proficiency.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems.
• Interest in pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics for service line.
• Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience; or 2 years hospital experience or residency; BCPS.

Responsibilities

• Provides a minimum of two inservices per year on rational medication therapy and procedures.
• Mentors and trains peers and residents within the service line.
• Works with the multidisciplinary team and supports other service lines.
• Maintains active presence on patient care units for 80% of shift.
• Participates as committee member and leads clinical initiatives.
• Precepts pharmacy students and residents; completes documentation.
• Contributes to formulary management and drug reviews.
• Supports quality improvement and patient safety programs.
