Job summary
UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals and numerous facilities. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist provides specialized pharmacotherapy services, participates in rounds, and supports safe, economical drug therapies for patients.
The role includes developing programs, supervising staff, and collaborating with medicine and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes in a dynamic hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Graduated from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy (required).
- Licensed or license eligible as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (required).
- Board certification in area of expertise preferred; CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications are required or must be obtained.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and med history reviews.
- Evaluate and verify medication orders for appropriateness and efficacy.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support clinical services including dosing and drug information requests.
- Contribute to formulary management and cost-effective pharmacotherapy initiatives.
- Document interventions in the EMR and support clinical leadership in program development.
