Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a Pharmacist to join our hospital team on a PRN schedule. You will educate and counsel patients and families on safe medication use, participate in stewardship, and support transitions of care across the patient journey.

You will supervise pharmacy staff, collaborate with clinicians, and help maintain medication safety. Requires a PharmD, Florida license, and Bachelor’s degree; Doctorate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Doctorate preferred.
• PharmD field of study.
• 1+ hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Licensed Pharmacist (RPH) required.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective therapy; participate in stewardship and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds; ensure smooth transitions of care from admission to discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff; support learning and development.
• Identify and report medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.

Job Description:

• Open availability and flexibility are required. This position consists of 8-hour shifts, with start times that may vary based on departmental needs. Shifts may begin as early as 6:00 AM or at 7:30 AM, 12:00 PM, or 1:30 PM (EST).
• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
