Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Pharmacist for a PRN Day shift. Responsibilities include counseling patients, supervising staff, and ensuring safe, effective medication use across central and satellite areas.

You will participate in rounds, optimize medication therapy, and engage in quality improvement while leveraging EHRs and informatics. Requires Florida pharmacist license and hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist (RPH) in the state of Florida.
• 1+ hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Doctorate (PharmD) preferred; Bachelor’s required.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare staff on safe medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, cost-effective therapy; participate in stewardship and surveillance.
• Engage in direct patient care and rounds; ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Supervise and mentor technicians, interns, students, and residents.
• Identify, report and help resolve medication safety events and errors.
• Utilize EHRs and pharmacy informatics to optimize decision support.
• Contribute to practice advancement through research and committee work.
• Perform all pharmacist functions across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review orders and monitor patient profiles to prevent drug-related problems.
• Participate in quality improvement, regulatory compliance and accreditation.

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation.
• Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity.
• Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).
