Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a licensed pharmacist for a full-time overnight position. Responsibilities include educating patients, ensuring safe and cost-effective therapy, and participating in interdisciplinary rounds.

This role supports transitions of care and mentoring of staff within central and satellite pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate has a Doctorate (preferred), a Bachelor’s degree, and at least 1 year in hospital settings; licensure is required.

Qualifications

• Licensed Pharmacist (RPH) required.
• Bachelor's degree required; Doctorate preferred.
• 1+ hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification may apply depending on unit/state.

Responsibilities

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team on safe medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; participate in stewardship and surveillance.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds; ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy staff and students; support learning.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs and pharmacy informatics to optimize documentation.
• Contribute to practice advancement through research and committee work.
• Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation.
• Review medication orders and patient profiles to prevent drug-related problems; monitor dosing.
• Participate in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities.

Job Description:

Schedule: Overnight position staffing 9 PM to 7 AM with a 7 on/7 schedule

• Educate and counsel patients, families, and healthcare team members on safe and effective medication use.
• Provide safe, timely, and cost-effective medication therapy; actively participate in stewardship, surveillance, and restricted-use programs.
• Engage in direct patient care and interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring smooth transitions of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
• Supervise, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy technicians, interns, students, and residents; support team learning and development.
• Identify, report, and help resolve medication safety events, adverse drug reactions, and errors.
• Demonstrate proficiency with EHRs, pharmacy informatics systems, and medication automation to optimize clinical decision support and documentation.
• Contribute to professional advancement through practice innovation, research, specialty alignment (e.g., critical care, oncology, infectious disease), committee participation, and scholarly activity.
• Perform all pharmacist functions including compounding, dispensing, verification, and documentation of medications across central, satellite, and IV areas.
• Review and monitor medication orders and patient profiles to prevent, identify, and resolve drug-related problems; complete pharmacist consults and perform pharmacokinetic dosing, monitoring, and adjustments.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, and accreditation activities; track performance metrics (e.g., interventions, error reduction, cost savings).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
