Job summary

Corewell Health Big Rapids Hospital is seeking a pharmacist for a part-time role in Big Rapids, MI. The pharmacist will maintain safety and efficacy of medication use, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the care team.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, dispensing medications, and supervising pharmacy staff. A Michigan license and hospital experience are preferred; schedule includes daytime shifts and variable weekends.

Qualifications

• Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
• Active pharmacy license in Michigan (LIC-Pharmacist MI) is required/needed.
• ASHP-accredited residency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and efficacy of medication use; educate patients and families.
• Interpret medication orders, dispense, and monitor for interactions and dosing accuracy.
• Supervise technicians, residents, interns, and other staff as appropriate.
• Participate in drug use evaluations and continuous improvement activities.

Scope of Work

Maintains accountability for ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication use. Educates and acts as a consultant to patients/family and members of the health care team related to optimal drug therapy and participates in process improvement activities and drug use evaluations. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Interprets and screens medication orders for appropriate agent, dose, route, allergies, and potential drug interactions. Safely compounds and dispenses medications for administration to patients. Evaluates patients, orders appropriate laboratory tests, and interprets serum drug levels utilizing pharmacokinetic principles; provides prescribers with dosage regimen recommendations to optimize therapeutic outcomes, reduce patient risk, and monitor the costs associated with drug therapy. Provides appropriate supervision and direction within appropriate skill level to technicians, residents, interns, and other support personnel. Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department and Corewell Health specific requirements on a timely basis. Provides education and counseling to patients/family/significant others/members of the health care team in order to optimize outcomes and appropriate use of medications. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with State and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation/compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy
• 2 years of relevant experience hospital pharmacy
• Preferred American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency in Pharmacy Practice
• Preferred LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
• LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance - STATE_MI State of Michigan 90 Days required
• CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
• Or CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
• Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
• Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required

Ideal candidate will possess Inpatient Pharmacy experience. All Pharmacists may apply.

Pharmacy Schedule

Pharmacy Schedule is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week and 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the weekend. PRN Schedule will be variable within these hours.
