Job summary

Emory Healthcare in Georgia seeks a licensed pharmacist to join our high-acuity academic medical center team. The pharmacist will prepare, dispense, and verify medications, collaborate with care teams, and participate in patient education and safety initiatives.

The role requires hospital experience or a current trajectory through Emory tuition programs, with BLS and ACLS certifications pursued as per policy. On-site duties support our Magnet-designated ambulatory and inpatient services.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
• Active Pharmacist license in Georgia.
• BLS certification within 90 days; ACLS within 6 months if applicable.
• One year of hospital experience preferred; or new graduate under Emory tuition program.
• PGY1 residency is preferred to advance to Clinical Pharmacist II.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, compounds and dispenses medications with accuracy.
• Manages record-keeping and serves as a resource to medical staff.
• Recommends formulary alternatives to prescribers and documents orders.
• May oversee pharmacy students, interns or technicians.
• Identifies and reports system/process failures and suggests improvements.
• Enters and processes physician orders accurately in the pharmacy system.
• Counsels patients on medications and adverse effects.
• Maintains records for legal compliance and controlled substances.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.

Active Pharmacist license in Georgia.

BLS Certification (within 90 days).

ACLS Certification (within 6 months).

One year of hospital experience preferred; OR new graduate under Emory tuition program.

PGY1 residency preferred.
