The role involves preparing sterile products, counseling patients, and supporting a team to optimize drug therapy. A DC-licensed pharmacist with 1–2 years hospital experience is preferred, with PGY-1 and board certification as desirable qualifications.

Competenze

• Doctoral degree in pharmacy required.
• 1-2 years of direct patient care experience in a hospital setting required.
• Completion of PGY-1 pharmacy residency preferred.
• Board certification preferred

Mansioni

• Evaluates medication orders for accuracy and dispenses medications.
• Assesses feasibility and compounding of extemporaneous products as needed.
• Prepares IV admixtures and sterile products including hazardous agents.
• Responds to drug information requests and counsels patients when appropriate.
• Monitors patient drug therapy to optimize outcomes and minimize adverse effects.
• Ensures proper dispensing of controlled substances and maintains inventory.
• Oversees technicians and ensures accurate preparation and packaging of medications.
• Documents orders and educates patients and families on safe medication use.

Formazione

Doctoral degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
