Job summary

Unity Health Care in Washington, DC seeks a Pharmacist to deliver pharmaceutical care in a correctional healthcare setting. You will dispense medications, educate patients, and support clinicians while supervising pharmacy operations and staff.

The role requires a DC-licensed Pharmacist with at least 2 years of clinical experience and prior retail/community pharmacy background. You will help ensure safe, compliant pharmaceutical services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy required.
• Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the District of Columbia.
• Prior retail or community pharmacy experience required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical pharmacy experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of medication management and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise all aspects of pharmacy operations.
• Dispense prescribed medications accurately and safely.
• Provide medication education and counseling as appropriate.
• Serve as a pharmaceutical resource to healthcare providers and clinical staff.
• Identify potential misuse or abuse of pharmaceuticals and recommend remedial action.
• Develop and prepare monthly and quarterly pharmacy activity reports.
• Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with infection control measures and regulations.
• Develop training for nursing staff regarding medications.
• Recommend updates to pharmacy instructions, regulations, policies, and operational guidance.
