Job summary

The Bureau of Prisons seeks a licensed pharmacist to join our medical services team, delivering safe, effective medication use to support inmate health and public safety. This role requires an ACPE-accredited PharmD/PhD or equivalent, U.S.

licensure, and at least one year of professional pharmacy experience, including dispensing and review. You will dispense medications, advise on therapy, maintain records, ensure proper labeling, and collaborate with clinicians to optimize medication programs

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by ACPE or equivalent.
  • 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to Ph.D. or Pharm.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Responsibilities

  • Dispensing medications prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners; providing information on usage and side effects.
  • Evaluating medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations.
  • Maintaining all medication records required by law.
  • Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens.
  • Establishing medication-handling procedures for storage and preservation of medications.
  • Coordinating with other departments to integrate pharmacy programs within the institution.
  • Supervising staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Education

Doctoral degree in Pharmacy
3 years of graduate education toward Ph.D., Pharm.D. or equivalent
