Job summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University seeks a full-time Senior Staff Associate / Performance Improvement Clinical Specialist. The role reports to the Director of Performance Improvement and will conduct clinical rounding, act as liaison to nursing PI, and address clinical issues.

You will lead PI initiatives to improve patient safety, quality, efficiency and satisfaction, develop corrective actions, analyze events, and present findings in narrative, statistical, and graphic formats.

Qualifications

Must maintain New York State Registered Nurse License.
Experience in performance improvement and patient safety.

Responsibilities

Conduct clinical rounding and liaison to nursing PI.
Lead work groups on performance improvement initiatives.
Coordinate departmental PI and other meetings.
Provide clinical expertise for hospital and departmental PI projects.
Perform medical records reviews for quality measures, sepsis, patient complaints and regulatory investigations, and identify and investigate process variation.
Develop corrective actions and improvement strategies.
Monitor and follow up on findings and present orally and in writing.
Assist clinical departments, to conduct PI meetings (agendas, minutes, statistical data, research and follow-up).
Analyze sentinel events by investigating, producing write-ups for root cause analysis and identifying, implementing and monitoring risk reduction strategies.
