Additional Information About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to support our new Transitional Care Unit (TCU), which focuses on supporting boarding patients in the ED while they await inpatient beds.

  • 2x12-hour shifts
  • Part-time nights
  • Sign-on bonus eligible
Additional Preferred Requirements
  • ED and/or inpatient experience helpful
Overview

Barnes–Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center, Missouri's largest hospital, is ranked among the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. No two shifts are alike, and every minute counts.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment, educating patients and families on managing their illness, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that enhance patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patients, and families, ensuring effective communication across the care continuum.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural backgrounds.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safety is essential.
