Job summary

Avera Cancer Institute-Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a staff development educator and nursing leader to advance education, mentorship and competency assessment across the clinical team.

You will develop and implement education plans, guide continuing education, and support practice improvement through evidence-based care, while collaborating with leaders to orient new staff.

Qualifications

• RN license active in the state of practice.
• 1–3 years nursing experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent and leader.
• Develops and identifies clinical prevention strategies in area of expertise.
• Supports the development of the nurse and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced-based clinical practice.
• Proactively participates in continuing education with a goal of enhancement of clinical practice.
• Serves as a resource in the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines.
• Collaborates with the director/manager to develop and implement an education and orientation plan in clinical area of focus.
• Coaches and provides feedback to staff regarding their nursing care.
• Delegates, supervises, and evaluates nursing care given by others while retaining accountability for the quality of care given to the patients and provides input to nursing leadership as necessary.
• Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues and others.
• Assists in compiling and presenting optimal care standards via case reviews of patients for internal and regional committees.
