Responsibilities

• Orientation, Training and Professional Development: Assists with central classes and orientation activities; participates in educational needs assessments; facilitates opportunities for staff development; coordinates educational offerings across classrooms, simulations, or patient care areas; tracks orientation progress; supports competency training and HealthStream completion; evaluates offerings using evidence and cost-effectiveness; serves as a nursing practice leader and provides feedback on role performance; facilitates peer education.
• Consultation/Collaboration: Provides informal education consultation; participates in committees; maintains collaborative relationships; responds to requests for training; helps develop nursing policies and procedures.
• Direct Patient Care: Provides direct patient care in planned and emergent situations; serves as a role model for expert care; promotes critical thinking and clinical decision-making; supports orientation and training; collaborates with nursing staff during emergencies; maintains competency through conferences and journal clubs.
• Quality / Research: Participates in quality and process improvement; supports collaborative care reviews; assists with new initiatives; supports regulatory preparation and required learning; implements audit plans; develops programs responsive to quality data; uses research findings to revise program content.
