Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Nurse Educator/Clinical Instructor to bridge nursing education with caregiver development. You will coordinate student clinical experiences and preceptor assignments, and drive onboarding through orientation and required hospital training.

The role emphasizes education program leadership, evidence-based practice influence, and collaboration with Mercy-affiliated programs to shape patient care excellence. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic teaching environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required or higher with active RN licensure.
  • 2 years of clinical nursing experience if BSN attained; 10 years if Associate’s is highest degree (or 5 years if RN to BSN is in progress).
  • Current state license if required in discipline.
  • BLS provider certification.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to meet deadlines.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office; knowledge of audiovisual equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between Mercy and affiliated nursing programs for student clinicals and preceptor assignments.
  • Coordinate student clinical experiences and onboarding of Mercy caregivers.
  • Support onboarding and development through orientation and hospital training; contribute to education and workforce development.

Position Details:

The Mercy Nurse Educator/Clinical Instructor serves a dual role in nursing student education and caregiver development. This position functions as the primary liaison between Mercy and affiliated nursing programs, coordinating student clinical experiences, and preceptor assignments. This role also supports the onboarding and development of Mercy caregivers through orientation and required hospital training. This role supports Mercy's commitment to education, workforce development, and excellence in patient care.

Minimum Required:
  • If Bachelor's degree has been attained, 2 years' clinical experience is required. If Associate's degree is the highest level of degree attained, 10 years hospital nursing experience or 5 years' hospital nursing experience if active enrollment in a RN to BSN program.
  • Current appropriate state license if required in discipline.
  • BLS provider.
  • Demonstrates clinical knowledge related to evidence-based practice with the credibility to positively influence the delivery of patient care.
  • Proven ability to organize and multitask to meet project deadlines.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of equipment/technology used in delivery of patient care.
Preferred:
  • Certified or progress toward certification in a specialty related to responsibilities (if available in discipline) preferred.
  • 2 years' teaching experience.
  • Additional life support certifications as required by specialty (ACLS/ALS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, TNCC and/or ENPC).
