Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing; Bachelor preferred.
• Two years experience as a Staff Nurse.
• Clinical nursing skills, effective communication, teaching and motivational skills.
• Specialty Board Certification within 2 years of promotion.
• Current Illinois RN license; certification in area of expertise preferred.
• American Heart Association CPR Certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, delegate, communicate and think critically on clinical and operational issues.
• Act as a resource to the nursing staff and medical staff.
• Facilitate admissions/transfers planning with Bed Coordinator and Supervisor.
• Conduct patient rounds and monitor conditions; adjust care assignments as needed.
• Coordinate bed control and early discharge orders with physicians.
• Participate in Nursing DIG Committee to improve patient throughput.
• Ensure adequate staffing and unit coverage based on census and acuity.
• Orient agency personnel and provide feedback to staff and Unit Manager.
• Act as a problem-solving resource for patient care issues across departments.
