Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking nurses (RN or LPN) to provide specialized patient care and coordinate plans of care across departments. The role includes triage, patient education, and collaboration with providers to schedule tests and referrals.

Candidates must hold an RN license (or multi-state eNLC), pass a background check, and obtain BLS within 30 days of hire. Two years RN or five years LPN experience is required.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the state where services will be provided or multi-state license via the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• State criminal background check and Federal checks as required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on assistance per department and provider needs, including procedures, tests, medications, and specimens.
• Acts as first contact for patients, triaging and providing medical advice when applicable.
• Coordinates the plan of care and liaises between providers, departments, other healthcare professionals and schedulers for testing, scheduling, and referrals.
• Monitors and manages patient appointments, testing, and labs.
• Assists with obtaining prior-authorizations for the patient population.
• Prepares educational materials and counsels patients on medical conditions, medications, or treatments.
• Provides specialized nursing assistance in research efforts when applicable.
• Offers advice and consultation to nursing staff caring for the same patient population.
• Attends conferences or educational opportunities to stay up-to-date.
