Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to independently perform laboratory procedures and testing across patient ages, applying professional knowledge to execute, interpret, and analyze results in a timely manner.

The role requires education in clinical laboratory science or life sciences, with ASCP/AMT/AAB certification compliance and Georgia licensure obligations. No experience required, with 1 year supervised clinical experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED plus college/technical coursework and clinical training to satisfy testing/certification requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or life/biological science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures and testing.
• Interprets and analyzes results accurately and timely.
• Maintains competency and documents training as required.
• Adheres to certification and regulatory requirements (GA state regulations).

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency Required
• Bachelors Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.) Preferred

Work Experience

• No experience required Required
• 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts) according to the qualifications through the State of Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, Clinical Laboratory regulations. • A person who recently moved into the state of Georgia or recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified as technologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only to afford the person an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
• AAB provisional certification not accepted
