Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking an experienced RN Emergency Room Clinical Nurse Mentor to work with our Emergency Departments, including freestanding Healthplex and Oakville. This full-time role focuses on training, coaching and mentoring nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and smooth transitions for new clinicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
• 2 years progressive nursing experience in ER or designated specialty; 3 months as preceptor.
• BLS from the American Heart Association; Virginia RN licensure or eligibility.

Responsibilities

Clinical Mentor Job Responsibilities

• Develop expertise in training, coaching and mentoring staff through the promotion and delivery of high-quality nursing care.
• Orient, educate and develop nursing staff to ensure competence and ability to fulfill specified responsibilities.
• Provide support to novice and advanced nurses and preceptors to ensure a smooth transition into practice and the work environment.
• Integrate knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the clinical and social adjustment needs of all team members.
• Participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of educational programs to promote clinical development and career progression from novice to proficient nurse for new or existing clinicians.

Hours: Full-time, M-F (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
