Job summary

Orthoillinois, a Division of Orthomidwest, is seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to ensure accurate charge capture for all providers and services. You will code using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS guidelines, enter charges in the EHR, and review dictations for accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar role.
• Understanding CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding requirements; professional coding certification preferred.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Basic working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites.
• Basic working knowledge of EHR and insurance/hospital portals.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve information from medical records for billing using CPT and ICD-10 guidelines.
• Review daily charge capture for providers/ancillary services.
• Review claims requiring follow-up appeal.
• Analyze operative reports to assign CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
• Enter codes/charges in the EHR system.
• Audit provider dictation for compliance and accuracy.
• Handle incoming patient and internal coding issues.
• Maintain CPC certificate through continuing education.
