Specialty Orthopedic Group is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder to review clinical documentation and translate healthcare services into standardized codes. The coder ensures accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding to support billing, reporting, and compliance while collaborating with physicians and the billing team.

The role requires 2+ years of orthopedic coding experience, CPT/ICD-10 proficiency, and strong EHR/EMS (CAC) skills.

Qualifications

• Must possess CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS knowledge and be proficient in modifier usage.
• Experience with EHR/practice management systems and CAC software.
• Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid and payer policies.
• 2+ years of medical coding experience, orthopedics preferred.
• Strong anatomy/physiology and medical terminology knowledge.
• Excellent writing, communication, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; proficient with Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Code patient records with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes.
• Review documentation to verify medical necessity and gaps.
• Communicate with physicians via queries to clarify documentation.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS standards, and internal policies; participate in audits.
• Review and resolve claim edits and support denials appeals.
• Meet productivity targets while maintaining audit accuracy.
