Job summary

DHR Health in Harlingen, TX seeks a Medical Assistant to support the administrative and clinical team. You will perform scribing, wound care, post-operative visits, patient check-ins, scheduling, and front-desk duties to ensure smooth department operations.

Required are a Medical Assistant program, high school diploma, and BLS. Excellent communication, computer skills, and the ability to work with diverse patients are essential.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in a busy physician office, preferred.
• Ability to take vital signs including height, weight, BP, temperature and pulse.
• Must have computer experience and learn practice IS system.
• Previous EMR experience preferred.
• Willing to be cross trained for front desk duties.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
• Reasoning ability and good independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions.
• Assist in obtaining patient history, chief complaint and vital signs as necessary.
• Schedule, coordinate, make referral appointments and monitor appointments.
• Understand and adhere to managed care policies and procedures.
• Register patients, confirm appointments, verify insurance benefits.
• Keep rooms neat, clean and well stocked with supplies.
• Set up rooms for in-office procedures.
• Assist physician with in-office procedures as needed.
• Monitor schedule to ensure medical records are obtained prior to visits.
• Refer to and manage the referral letter process.
• Inventory medical and injectable supplies; order office supplies as needed.
• Explain postoperative steps to patients and assist with hospital registrations for surgery.
• Comply with quality assurance practices and screen test results.
• Perform wound care and related diagnostic tests as necessary.
• Responsible for scribe duties when needed.
