Qualifications

• Education: Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited school; clinical education/experience may substitute for MA certificate.
• Licenses/Certifications: CPR certification current within 30 days of hire.
• One year of clinical experience in a designated specialty area preferred.
• Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or procedures.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods, walk, stoop, bend and lift.
• Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA and general office tasks.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced direct and indirect patient care under physician direction, as per skills inventory.
• Assists in planning and implementing patient care; documents care in the medical record.
• Collects patient data including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, medications and allergies.
• Records vital signs, height/weight, and chief complaint; documents timely and accurately.
• Administers medications as directed using five rights; prepares patients for examination and assists with treatments/procedures.
• Triages appointments, answers patient calls, and helps stock rooms.
• Ensures care is within policy and budget; maintains communication with healthcare team to ensure quality.
