Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform direct and indirect patient care under physician supervision. You will document care in the patient record, collect data, and assist with treatments and procedures while ensuring accuracy and safety.

The role requires MA certification with CPR within 30 days of hire, and preferred experience in a clinical setting. You will support physicians, triage patient needs, and help maintain efficient clinic operations.

Qualifications

• Education: Medical Assistant Certification; clinical education and/or experience may be substituted for MA certificate
• CPR certification current with 30 days of hire
• One year of clinical experience in a designated specialty area preferred
• Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA, HIPAA, general office tasks and filing systems
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend and lift as required

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced direct and indirect patient care, under the direction of a physician, as specified in the skills inventory
• Assists in planning and implementing direct patient care; documents care in the medical record
• Collects patient data per protocol including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, medications and allergies
• Records vital signs, height/weight and chief complaint timely and accurately
• Administers medications as directed using the five rights and coordinates referrals and outside tests as needed
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff and visitors per Memorial Hermann policies and standards
