Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare Incorporated is seeking a certified Medical Assistant to support providers, manage patient flow, obtain vitals, and perform related clinical and clerical duties.

The role requires certification or completion of MA training, willingness to obtain certification within 18 months, and a baseline of 2 years clinical office experience. BLS CPR is required; EMR experience preferred. This is an on-site position in Virginia.

Qualifications

• Must be certified Medical Assistant or have completed a medical assistant training program.
• Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 18 months of hire.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Minimum 2 years’ prior experience providing clinical support.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms in a timely, courteous manner.
• Reviews patient chart to ensure required reports are available prior to exam.
• Obtains and documents patient chief complaint and vitals.
• Assists providers with examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Draws blood and routes specimens to laboratories per in-house procedures.
• Documents all activities and patient responses in the medical record.
• Coordinates scheduling of future appointments and tests.
• Maintains infection control and patient confidentiality standards.
