Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking Medical Assistants to provide clinical and administrative support in an ambulatory setting under supervision. Duties include patient care, vital signs, specimen handling, and data collection with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Minimal requirements include a High School Diploma and BLS certification; MA certification from a national body is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national association preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with clinical care and patient intake.
• Collect data on physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions.
• Complete standardized rooming and clinical intake.
• Provide clinical support during examinations and procedures (lab specimens,Testing, wound care).
• Organize daily work to support patient needs and team efficiency.
• Provide age-appropriate interventions as directed by HCP.
• Reinforce patient/family teaching using approved materials.
• Maintain safe environment and equipment; document services.
• Provide administrative support (scheduling, drafting letters, chart prep).
• Demonstrate teamwork and professional development.
