Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Assistant/Practitioner in Toledo, Ohio. The ideal candidate assists with patient processing in ambulatory/office settings under physician direction, balancing clinical and clerical duties for pediatric to geriatric patients.

Responsibilities include patient flow, diagnostic testing, charting, and assisting with procedures. Prior physician office experience and CPR certification are preferred; LPNs and MA graduates welcome. Competitive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program, or a Licensed Practical Nurse, or have a minimum of 5 years practical experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Current certification or licensure required; if not certified/registered must obtain within six months of employment.
• Two years of previous experience in a physician’s office or ambulatory care setting preferred.
• Must possess current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct patients to care areas and obtain chief complaint/reason for visit, vital signs, height and weight; maintain patient flow.
• Perform diagnostic testing (EKG, PFT, minor lab) as ordered; may perform venipuncture.
• Maintain records including documentation, patient notes, dictation; assist physician with procedures and exams.
• Provide basic procedures under physician or RN direction; perform some triage functions.
