Job summary

Baptist Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for BHMG General Surgery in Lexington, KY. The role focuses on frontline patient care, vital signs, history collection, and support for providers in a busy surgical practice.

The MA will manage EPIC charting, assist with procedures, and handle scheduling, test coordination, and medication requests. On-site presence and a clinical competency assessment are required for orientation and successful onboarding.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program or a minimum of one year of direct, hands‑on patient care in a clinical setting.
• Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation.
• Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant (MA) Trainee Program for further development and reevaluation.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.

• Processing medication requests.
• Handling prior authorizations.
• Coordinating tests and procedures.
• Performing EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy after successful completion of clinical competency.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient patient care and support for providers.
• Requires regular on-site presence to perform the essential job functions.
