Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Physician Department in an ambulatory care setting. Under supervision, you will assist with patient preparation, exams, blood draws, vaccines, and vital signs, while documenting in the EMR and providing clerical support.

The position requires completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, CPR within 90 days, and CMA or RMA certification within 1 year. The role may float to different MedStar sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Less than 1 year of ambulatory care experience required; externship preferred.
• CMA or RMA within 1 year required.
• CPR certification within 90 days required.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient prep and exams, and support care team to maintain smooth flow.
• Perform venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, and vital signs.
• Document activities in the EMR and provide clerical support; float to sites as needed.
• Participate in team huddles and safety/quality initiatives, and infection control tasks.
