Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under supervision. Responsibilities include venipuncture, vaccine administration, vital signs, and helping with patient exams.

The role supports the care team, ensures timely patient flow, and may float to other sites within the system. Requires MA program completion; CPR and CMA/RMA certifications are preferred and may be required within 1 year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA/RMA/cpr related certs may be required within 1 year according to department policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with patient preparation for the examination and with minor office procedures.
• Provide venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration as directed; document vital signs.
• Support clinical care team to ensure optimal patient flow and back-up for coordinators as needed.
• Document activities in EMR and communicate test results and follow-up needs.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards; manage supplies and equipment inventories.
• Float to other sites as needed and participate in team meetings and training.
