Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Learning Scientist (Clinical) to lead cross-domain research in cognition, language, and early childhood assessment. The role emphasizes scientific leadership, collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, and applying AI to advance products.

The position can be remote or based in the US offices (San Antonio, TX or Bloomington, MN). It requires a Ph.D. and 5+ years of relevant experience, with occasional travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology or related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in speech-language pathology, literacy, or early childhood.
• Clinical experience administering or interpreting standardized assessments.
• Strong knowledge of test development, measurement, research methods, and psychometrics.
• Ability to translate scientific evidence into strategic product decisions, and apply AI where appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead research plans to support product development and portfolio priorities.
• Provide subject-matter and scientific leadership in speech-language pathology, literacy, achievement, and/or early childhood.
• Define product scope and assessment design aligned with customer needs and business goals.
• Lead item development, review, and evaluation using research and clinical expertise.
• Collaborate with psychometricians to review data and findings.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI and emerging tech to development and workflows.
• Oversee assessment materials, digital interfaces, and scoring resources.
• Support product commercialization with scientific input and training materials.
• Represent Pearson through scholarly activities and conferences.
• Travel approximately 10% as needed.
