Job summary

Cherokee Indian Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to perform diverse clinical lab procedures across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, serology, and blood banking. The role emphasizes quality control, instrument maintenance, and proficiency testing alignment with CAP/JCAHO standards.

The incumbent will conduct data analysis, prepare manuals, and provide training to staff, with weekend/holiday duty as needed.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science and MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory experience; ability to work across disciplines.
• Must possess professional and clinical knowledge across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and blood bank.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures and testing in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
• Provide technical expertise to the Supervisory Medical Technologist in intralaboratory disciplines.
• Develop and review complex laboratory procedures and participate in proficiency testing (CAP).
• Perform instrument start-up, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshoot issues.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens from pediatric and adult patients.
• Prepare workload and quality control statistics, and generate required reports.
