Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MLT (ASCP) certification or equivalent, or certification within 24 months of hire.
• Student enrollment in an accredited MLT program may qualify for hire prior to graduation; high school diploma required.
• Approximately 18 months to become technically proficient.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Cross-train to function in chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, urinalysis, serology, parasitology, and blood banking.
• Perform instrument start-up procedures and identify malfunctions; assist with proficiency testing (CAP).
• Perform phlebotomy on pediatric and adult patients according to approved policies.
• Maintain equipment and records of preventive maintenance; ensure safety and infection control practices.

Education

Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology

Certification as MLT (ASCP) or equivalent

Enrollment in an accredited MLT program (eligible for hire before graduation)

High school diploma or equivalent
