Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology from an accredited institution is required.
• Registry eligible with the ASCP or AMT as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist is required.
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all compliance requirements and policies and performs responsibilities ethically in line with organizational values.
• Performs patient care activities with minimal supervision and uses proper body mechanics for patient and equipment handling.
• Performs routine, timed, and STAT moderate and complex laboratory tests following standard procedures.
• Maintains instruments through routine maintenance and calibration; documents results and corrective actions.
• Draws blood specimens from patients and ensures proper specimen collection and handling.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, families and the healthcare team and responds to overhead pages.
• Maintains accurate and complete records, analyzes quality control data, and documents actions in writing or via computer.
• Demonstrates commitment to infection control and safety standards and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
