Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and report results of clearly defined laboratory procedures, assuring accurate test processing and timely outcomes. You will be responsible for assigned shifts with potential overtime and callbacks as required.

The role requires basic computer literacy and an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training, with national certification obtained within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• National certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control and document as required.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Follows regulatory requirements, competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
• Completes assigned goals.
